Projects: RSPCA Sydney
The RSPCA Sydney Shelter (in Yagoona) is the largest animal shelter in the southern hemisphere, caring for over a 1000 dogs and cats. The Sydney Shelter is also home to a variety of other animals including birds, rabbits, goats, horses, chicken and ducks. This facility recently underwent a major renovation and Urban Energy was engaged to resolve their energy requirements.
Urban Energy supplied a 30kw Co-generation package for the recently renovated RSPCA Sydney shelter. The system that Urban Energy designed, supplied and installed provides the shelter with electricity, heating, and hot water with a staggering 97 tonnes average yearly CO2 saving.
The system comprises of a Tedom 30kw Cogeneration unit, 3 Latento heat exchange storage tanks and two Bosch 32 Series boilers and 674m2 of in slab hydronic heating. Urban Energy provides ongoing service and maintenance to the facility to ensure that the Co-Generation system continues to run efficiently.
The clinic can now houses animals in heated kennels and has in floor heating throughout the whole clinic. The heating was zoned into 6 areas with the animal occupied areas heated 24 hours a day and the rest of the zones heated for only 10 hours a day.
Urban Energy’s in house team of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical engineers, along with our own project managers and installers work hard with our clients, their architects and the installing mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure that each project is delivered to the highest specification.
Urban Energy were also engaged to replace and maintain the existing hot water and underfloor heating system at RSPCA Wollongong.
